About Jully Woo
Jully’s artistic journey began as a fashion designer upon graduating from Central Saint Martins College in the UK. However, driven by a lifelong passion for art, she has now ventured into the realm of painting, utilizing decades of drawing and design experience to breathe life into her creations. Drawing inspiration from her Chinese heritage, Jully’s art is a fusion of powerful lines and a unique blend of colours and strokes. This distinct style finds expression in her figure drawings, landscapes, floral compositions, and still-life paintings. Working primarily with acrylic paint, she also finds immense joy in the meditative process of drawing, especially from observing and painting organic elements found in nature. Each piece she created is an exploration of emotions, ideas, and the intricacies of the human experience.
Artist Statement
My paintings are profound dialogues, unfolding as vibrant conversations between myself and the subjects I portray. Through the language of colours and space, I seek to bridge the gap between the tangible and the emotional, immersing viewers in a world where art becomes a conduit for shared experiences. Whether I paint landscapes that capture the sprawling majesty of nature, delicate still-life arrangements that reveal the essence of everyday objects, or intimate portraits and figures that delve into the intricacies of the human spirit, my focus remains fixed on the mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow. It is within this interplay that I find nature’s true beauty and its captivating atmosphere. With every piece, my aim is to evoke a shared sense of wonder and curiosity, inspiring viewers to perceive the world through fresh perspectives and appreciate the fleeting beauty that surrounds us.
